Adding 'Units of Sale' to a Bill of Materials

  • This can be done by Product Suppliers

As part of the ‘Complete Bill of Materials' task, product supplier users will need to enter the ‘Sale units per secondary’ and ‘Secondary packs per tertiary’. We ask product suppliers to enter the these values in their Bills of Materials so that we can create accurate reporting and calculate the total units of sale and tonnage for our users.

How-to:

1. To enter the ‘Sales units per secondary’, click on the ‘Complete Bill of Materials’ task from your task page.

2. Within the ‘Secondary components’ section, you will see the ‘Sale units per secondary’ field. On this field, you need to enter the number of sale units (SKUs) per secondary pack. For example, how many products you have per case.

3. Within the ‘Tertiary components’ section, you will see the ‘Secondary packs per tertiary’ field. On this field, you need to enter the number of secondary packs per tertiary. For example, how many cases you have per pallet.

4. Once you have entered a value for the ‘Sale units per secondary’ and ‘Secondary packs per tertiary’, e-halo will automatically calculate the ‘Sale units per tertiary’ by multiplying the ‘Sale units per secondary’ by the ‘Secondary packs per tertiary’.

  • ‘Sale units per tertiary’ is the number of sale units (SKUs) per tertiary. For example, the number of SKUs you have per pallet.

Bills of Materials without Secondary Components

If your Bill of Materials doesn’t have any secondary components (e.g., a tub of sweets that is loaded directly into a pallet) then click on the ‘No secondary packaging’ tick-box. This will disable the ‘secondary components’ section and both the ‘Sale units per secondary’ and ‘Secondary packs per tertiary’ fields.

The ‘Sale units per tertiary’ field will then be enabled, and it will have to be completed manually before the Bill of Materials can be submitted. This is so that the e-halo reports can still calculate tonnage.

Note: if you have added secondary components to your Bill of Materials and try to click on the ‘No secondary packaging’ tick-box, you will get the below error message:

Make sure you remove all secondary components before clicking on the ‘No secondary packaging’ tickbox.

Please note that once the ‘secondary components’ section is disabled, you will not be able to add any secondary components to your Bill of Materials. If you do need secondary components, simply untick the ‘No secondary packaging’ tick-box.

Bills of Materials without Tertiary Components

If your Bill of Materials doesn’t have any tertiary components, click on the ‘No secondary packaging’ tick-box option to disable the tertiary components section of your Bill of Materials.

The ‘Secondary packs per tertiary’ and ‘Sale units per tertiary’ fields will also be disabled.

Note: if you have added tertiary components to your Bill of Materials and try to click on the ‘No tertiary packaging’ tick-box, you will get an error message. Make sure you remove all tertiary components before clicking on the ‘No tertiary packaging’ tick-box.

Please note that once the ‘tertiary components’ section is disabled, you will not be able to add any tertiary components to your Bill of Materials. If you do need tertiary components, simply untick the ‘No tertiary packaging’ tickbox.

Bills of Materials without Secondary and Tertiary Components

If your Bill of Materials only has primary components, you can tick both the ‘No secondary packaging’ and ‘No tertiary packaging’ tick-boxes to disable both sections.

When Submitting a Bill of Materials:

If you try to complete a ‘Complete Bill of Materials’ task and have not entered a value on the ‘Sales units per secondary’ and ‘Secondary packs per tertiary’ fields, e-halo will stop you from completing the task and will display a validation error.

Bills of Materials: remove ‘sale units’ fields (optional):

We have introduced the option to hide the ‘sale units’ fields from Bills of Materials. This change will give retailers the option to decide if they want ‘sale units’ being captured on their Bills of Materials or not.

If you are a retailer and would like to hide the ‘sale units’ fields from your Bills of Materials, please speak to your Aura representative.
