What's New?
SKUs
We will be introducing a new item into e-halo, a SKU.
SKUs will be the unique combination of a Product and a Bill of Materials. This item is needed, as a BOM can behave in different ways within the context of a product. For example, the same BOM could be linked to 3 products and have 3 different states:
- Product 1: BOM is on sale
- Product 2: BOM is off sale
- Product 3: BOM is archived
SKUs will therefore have their own statuses, which will be different from the current BOM statuses.
Bill of Materials’ statuses ‘Active’, ‘In Progress’ and ‘Approval in Progress’ will remain as they are currently, as these statuses describe the life cycle of the Bill of Materials itself, from its creation to its approval.
SKU Statuses:
- In Progress: the creation of the BOM in the SKU (Product/BOM combination) has been briefed and the BOM is in the process of being created/submitted
- The BOM entity has a status of ‘In Progress’ or ‘Approval in Progress’
- Available for sale: the SKU (Product/BOM combination) is ready to go on sale for the first time, it will either need sale dates to be added to it or sale dates have been added and are coming up in the future.
- The BOM entity has been approved and has a status of ‘Active’
- On Sale: the SKU (Product/BOM combination) is currently on sale.
- The BOM entity has a status of ‘Approved’
- Off Sale: the SKU (Product/BOM combination) has previously been on sale and is currently off sale.
- The BOM entity has a status of ‘Approved’.
- Cancelled: the SKU (Product/BOM combination) has been cancelled. The use of the specific BOM in the specific product is cancelled.
- The BOM entity can have any status.
- Once a SKU has been cancelled, any tasks related to it will be cancelled.
- A SKU can only be cancelled if it has no on/off sale dates. If on/off sale dates are added to the SKU, the ‘cancel’ option will not be available.
- The SKU will still be visible in the SKU tab of the product page.
- The link between the BOM and the Product will remain, so users can see the SKU was cancelled.
- The BOM entity can have any status.
The new SKU entity will be displayed in a new tab in the ‘SKU’ tab of the ‘Product details page’:
Once the BOM linked to the SKU has been approved and has a status of ‘Available for Sale’, retailer users will be able to add on and off sale dates to the SKU.
Any ‘available for sale’ SKUs missing ‘on sale’ dates, will display a warning icon to remind the retailers to enter the sale dates:
Note: This icon will not show if the SKU has a status of ‘off sale’ as it would have already been ‘on sale’ before. However, new ‘on sale’ dates can be added to ‘an off sale’ SKUs, so they can come back on sale (e.g. seasonal products).
Add on/off sale dates to SKUs:
Only retailers can add on/off sale dates. To add or edit sale dates, just access the SKUs tab of your product page and find the SKU you want to add sale dates to:
- Click on the context menu (‘…’ button) of that SKU.
Note: If the SKU’s BOM doesn’t have a status of ‘active’, the ‘Add on sale dates’ button will not be available.
When a retailer user clicks on the ‘+ Add on sale date’ a modal will popup for the user to enter the sale dates:
The ‘add’ button will be disabled until an ‘on sale’ date is added. The ‘off sale’ date is optional.
Validation: the ‘off sale’ date can only be the same date or a later date than the ‘on sale’ date.
- The ‘off sale date’ field will be disabled until an on ‘sale date’ is selected.
Note: if the SKU already has ‘on sale’ dates, retailers can edit them by following the same process described above.
Cancel SKUs
Only retailers can cancel SKUs. To cancel a SKU, just access the SKUs tab of your product page and find the SKU you want to cancel:
- Click on the context menu (‘…’ button) of that SKU.
Note: If a SKU is ‘on sale’ or has an ‘on sale’ date coming up, it cannot be cancelled. Please ensure any upcoming ‘on sale’ dates are removed before cancelling.
When a retailer user clicks on the ‘cancel’ button, they will see a warning modal, asking them to confirm they want to cancel the SKU.
After the SKU is cancelled, e-halo will cancel any tasks that relate to the SKU.
New SKU restrictions when unlinking a Bill of Materials from a product
A Bill of Materials can only be unlinked from a Product if the SKU link to the Bill of Materials and Product has never been on sale.
The Bill of Materials can be unlinked if the SKU:
- The SKU has a status of ‘in progress’, ‘available for sale’ or ‘cancelled’
The Bill of Materials cannot be unlinked if it ever had a status of ‘on sale’.
- The ‘unlink’ button will be disabled.
If the SKU has a status of ‘available for sale’ and ‘on sale’ dates in the future, retailers will need to clear the dates before they can unlink the BOM.
Once a Bill of Materials is unlinked for a product, the SKU link to the Bill of Materials and Product will be deleted.
Link existing components to a Bill of Materias: tier restriction
When linking an existing component to a primary tier of a Bill of Materials, users will only be able to select components previously used as primary.
When linking an existing component to a secondary or tertiary tier of a Bill of Materials, users will only be able to select components previously used as secondary or tertiary.
This restriction has been added to help users avoid mistakes when linking components. It would be very rare for primary packaging to be used as secondary or tertiary packaging, normally when this happens it's a mistake.
Updates and Bug Fixes:
- Fixed the issue where the filters were not working correctly on the Product and Task hubs.
- Fixed the issue where the 'Approve Bill of Materials Link' task was taking a long time to complete.
- We enhanced the ‘Complete Component’ task so that a component is automatically evaluated for recyclability when it’s submitted.
