Versioning Components in e-halo

  • This function is available to Product Suppliers with a ‘Complete Bill of Materials’ task
  • The component must be linked to more than one Bill of Materials

The ‘Create new version’ button is available when a component is linked to more than one Bill of Materials, and should be used if you would like create a new component based on an existing one (i.e. copy and amend).

For example, you may need a component that has a different coating from the one linked to your Bill of Materials, or the component you want to amend is Active and locked.

Versioning a Component

1. Navigate to the Bill of Materials, find the component you want to copy and change, then click on the context menu to the right and select the ‘Create new version’ option.

3. The system will create a copy of the ‘original’ component that was linked to your Bill of Materials, link the new component to your Bill of Materials and unlink the ‘original’ component.

4. A ‘Complete Component’ task will be kicked off for the new component. This task will be assigned to the user that created the new component version.

When you access the new component, its specification form will be pre-filled with the information of the ‘original’ component. Amend the component as needed and submit it as normal to finish creating your new Bill of Materials.

Note: the ‘Create new Version’ button will only be available if a component is linked to more than one Bill of Materials. If the component is only linked to the Bill of Materials you are working on, you can amend the component without the risk of affecting other Bills of Materials.
