Copy a Component

  • Product supplier users have the ability to copy components in e-halo.

Copying a component can be used to create new components without having to start from scratch.

For example, you have an approved component for a carton box and need to create a new component for a carton box that is 2cm larger than your original component, but everything else in the specification is exactly the same. You can:

  • Copy the carton box component and amend the dimensions in the copied component. This way, you don't need to complete the full specification form again.

Please note that a copy of a component will not be linked to any Bills of Materials and you will not be able to confirm/reject the component until is linked to a Bill of Materials.

How-to:

1. Navigate to the Components Hub to find the component you would like to copy (it can have any status) and click on the component name or component ID to access its details page.

2. Click on the 'Options' in the top right hand corner of the component details page.

You will be directed to the copy of the component.

3. Amend the specification form as needed and click 'Save' to save the new component or click 'Cancel' if you don't wish to create the copy.

4. The new component will:

  • Have a status of 'in progress', regardless of the status of the 'original' component
  • Will have a brand new component ID
  • Will not be linked to any Bills of Materials.
  • Be visible in your Components Hub

Please note, the following will not be copied across:

  • Bill of Materials links
  • Brief instructions/rejections or brief attachments
  • Any documents from the documentation tab
  • Any information from the 'approval history' tab
  • Compliance information
