Link an Existing Bill of Materials to a Product

  • Only product supplier users can link existing Bills of Materials to a Product.

It's common for different products to share a common Bill of Materials, for example, a white wine and a red wine might share the exact same packaging components:

  • Same glass bottle
  • Same screw cap
  • Same front and back labels

When a product supplier user is completing a 'Complete Bill of Materials' task, they might want to use an existing Bills of Materials they previously used/created instead of creating a new one.

e-halo allows Bills of Materials to be linked to multiple products so that product suppliers don't have to duplicate them needlessly.

  • A Bill of Materials can be linked to multiple products.

Link an Existing Bill of Materials to a Product

In this example, we are creating a new Bill of Materials for a 'Red Wine' but linking an existing 'White Wine' Bill of Materials for convenience.

1. Go to the 'Complete Bill of Materials' task of the product you wish to link the existing Bill of Materials to and click on the 'Link Existing Bill of Materials' button.

2. In the 'Use an existing Bill of Materials' popup, select the product linked to the existing Bill of Materials that you wish to use.

In this pop up, you would find and select 'White Wine' to link to that existing Bill of Materials.

3. Click '+ Next' to proceed to the 'Bill of Materials' tab.

3. On the 'Bill of Materials' tab, where you can select the Bill of Materials you want to link to your product.

Note: you cannot link a Bill of Materials until it is fully approved and has a status of Active. If the Bill of Materials you are looking for has a different status, it will not appear on the list.

4. Once you select the Bill of Materials you want to use, click on the '+ Next' button.

5. e-halo will ask you if you are sure you would like to submit the Bill of Materials for the selected brief.

    • Click on 'Cancel' if you do not wish to submit the Bill of Materials for that brief, or
    • Click 'Submit' if you wish to submit it for the retailer to approve the use of the existing Bill of Materials for the brief.

6. After the Bill of Materials is submitted, the retailer will receive a task to approve the use of it for their product.

    • If the Bill of Materials was linked to any other products, the retailer will receive a 'Confirm Bill of Materials Link' task. If they approve the Bill of Materials link, the existing Bill of Materials will be linked to the product.
      • For example, the white wine Bill of Materials will now be linked to the red wine too.
    • If the Bill of Materials was not linked to any other products, the Bill of Materials will be automatically linked to the product and the retailer will receive an 'Approve Bill of Materials' task.
