Retailer users can brief product suppliers to create a Bill of Materials for their products. This can be found by navigating to the Product Hub via the icon below:
How to Brief a Bill of Materials
1. To create a new brief, navigate to the Product Hub and click on the 'New Brief' button.
2. You will be redirected to the 'Create Brief' page. All steps are contained in one page: 'Add Products', 'Add Suppliers' and 'Add Brief'.
From here, click on '+ Add Products' to select the product(s) you require the product supplier(s) to create Bills of Materials for.
If you select more than one product, a Bill of Materials will be created for each product.
3. Select the product supplier(s) that will complete the Bill of Materials by clicking on the '+ Add Suppliers' button.
If you select more than one supplier, a Bill of Materials will be created for each supplier. For example, if you select ProductA, ProductB, Supplier1 and Supplier2, then 4 Bills of Materials will be created:
-
-
- Bill of Material 1 for Supplier1+ProductA
- Bill of Material 2 for Supplier1+ProductB
- Bill of Material 3 for Supplier2+ProductA
- Bill of Material 4 for Supplier2+ProductB
-
'Assigned Contact' allows you to select 'All contacts in the organisation' or one or more contacts within the organisation who will receive the task 'Create Bill of Materials'.
4. After you have selected the product(s) and supplier(s):
a) Enter the brief's due date (i.e., when the Bill of Materials needs to be sent back for approval).
b) Attach files via the Attachments 'Upload file' button (if needed).
c) Select the brief type (read our guide on the difference between 2-stage spec and 1-stage spec).
d) Add your Brief Instructions into the provided field.
e) And click on 'Create Brief' in the top right hand corner.
5. The completed brief will look something like the image below. Once the brief is created, all selected product suppliers will get a task in their Task Hub to create a Bill of Materials for each product.
All briefs created can be found in the Brief Hub, identified by a unique code called 'Brief ID'. Clicking on this code will open the brief for viewing.
