What is the difference between a 1 stage & 2 stage brief in e-halo?

1 Stage/Full Spec Bill of Materials:

A retailer briefs the creation of a 1 Stage or Full Spec Bill of Materials when they would like the suppliers to provide the full specification information for all components from the start.

1. The full Bill of Materials is then submitted to the retailer for approval.

2. Once the retailer approves the Bill of Materials, the status of it and its components will change from ‘in progress’ to ‘Active’.

3. An ‘Active’ item cannot be edited but can be used in other products or Bills of Materials.

2 Stage/Basic Spec Bill of Materials:

A retailer briefs the creation of a 2 Stage or Basic Spec Bill of Materials when they would like only the basic information form for each component in the Bill of Materials to be submitted at the start of the process. This allows the retailer to make sure they are happy with the Bill of Materials as it is being proposed by the product supplier.

1. The retailer briefs a 'basic' Bill of Materials to the suppliers. Once the retailer approves the ‘basic’ version, the suppliers will then have to send the full specification information of all the components in the Bill of Materials for the retailer to give it the final approval.

2. Approving the ‘basic’ version of the Bill of Materials will kick off a 'Complete Bill of Materials' task and one 'Complete Component' task for each component in the Bill of Materials.

      • All tasks will be assigned to the product supplier user that submitted the 'basic' Bill of Materials.

3. When the ‘full’ Bill of Materials is approved by the retailer, the status of it and its components will change from ‘In Progress’ to ‘Active’. (For more information, please refer to our guides on Bill of Materials Statuses and Component Statuses.)
